Boosting your international mobility experience through SERN

Are you an Erasmus+ accredited organization or managing an Erasmus+ KA1 Project?

Have you just initiated an Erasmus+ KA1 project in school education or adult education and don’t know where to start?

Do not worry, SERN helps you out!

Some of our Swedish/Italian members have been accredited or are involved in KA1 projects within the Erasmus+ programme and in order to plan their activities are looking for Italian/Swedish partners that can host their participants.

Under BIME initiative, SERN Secretariat can support its members in finding hosting organisations, in preparing programme of activities together with the Swedish partner, in suggesting/booking hotels and transfers, in accompanying participants during the visits.

SERN Secretariat can provide you with different type of services, in accordance with the needs of your project or Erasmus plan for Accreditation, as follows:

Type of support request

  • Helping in finding hosting schools/education providers for adult education
  • Organising the visit/job shadowing/training period and preparation of the programme of activities  (Contacting speakers, hosting organisations, hotel/transfers/museums booking); Welcome/support on the 1st day of activity.
  • Organization of the visit + complete support by the SERN Secretariat staff throughout the duration of the activity

What can you do with BIME?
The experience of Liceo Marconi in Luleå

One of the many possibilities offered by the BIME initiative is illustrated by the Erasmus+ mobility carried out by Liceo Marconi, a secondary school based in Parma and member of the SERN network. As part of their Erasmus+ accreditation, the school was looking for a reliable partner in Sweden and, thanks to BIME, was able to connect with the Municipality of Luleå and the Luleå Gymnasieskola — both active members of the network.

The mobility combined a group experience for students, who were hosted by Swedish families and took part in school life at Luleå Gymnasieskola, with a job shadowing opportunity for a teacher, focused on exploring inclusive education practices. The whole programme was designed in collaboration with the hosting school, with support from SERN, ensuring both educational relevance and a smooth organisational process.

A distinctive feature of this exchange was its emphasis on communication and reflection. Students were encouraged to document their learning and cultural impressions in creative ways. As a result, they produced three videos: one exploring aspects of Swedish culture and everyday life, another comparing the Italian and Swedish school systems, and a third capturing the overall spirit of the experience. Alongside the videos, they also kept daily journals and produced a podcast for their school’s internal radio.

This experience is a concrete example of how BIME can help accredited organisations transform their Erasmus+ plans into meaningful, well-supported, and collaborative transnational exchanges. It demonstrates how the initiative can strengthen cooperation among SERN members and enhance the quality and impact of international mobility projects.

Special thanks to the Municipality of Luleå for hosting the visit, and to the teachers and students of Liceo Marconi for their outstanding work in documenting and sharing their journey.
