Meldola is a town of 9,933 inhabitants, situated 58 metres above sea level in a hilly landscape that includes the Bidente River valley and the Voltre Torrent valley.
The historic centre is well worth a visit, with highlights including the charming Orsini Square, the Aldobrandini Gallery, the Doria Pamphili Residence (birthplace of Felice Orsini), and the Town Hall (Palazzo Comunale). Just nearby, you can admire the historic “G.A. Dragoni” Theatre and the Hesperia Arena, home to the “Ciro Ronchi” Silkworm Museum.
In the medieval quarter, you’ll find the “Mirco Bravaccini” Ecology Museum and the monumental stairway leading to the Rocca fortress. A picturesque walk runs beneath the arcades from the main street to the Ponte dei Veneziani (1503–1509), passing by the small church of the former hospital, which houses frescoes dating from the late 15th century to 1508, and the Oratory of the Holy Stigmata (SS Stigmate).
The churches of San Nicolò, San Francesco, and Santi Cosma e Damiano feature a wealth of artistic heritage. In the hamlet of Teodorano, the namesake castle dominates the landscape. Between Meldola and Predappio lies the Rocca delle Caminate, while the “Bosco di Scardavilla” Oriented Nature Reserve is a site of notable environmental value.
Our objective is to increase cooperation among the
members of the network, between Italy and Sweden
and, more in general, the North and South of
the European Union.
