TRANSMIC-VET

Transforming micro-destinations through C-VET: enhancing governance, collaboration and sustainable growth

About the project

The TRANSMIC-VET project was created with the objective of strengthening the governance of sustainable tourism in micro-destinations, contexts that offer authentic cultural, environmental and historical experiences, but often lack the tools to effectively manage tourism development.

Unlike large tourism hubs, micro-destinations face challenges such as fragmentation of stakeholders, hyper-seasonality and the absence of strategies for digital and green transition. TRANSMIC-VET responds to these challenges by focusing on Continuing Vocational Education and Training (C-VET) for policy-makers, tour operators and small entrepreneurs. The project provides practical skills to promote balanced tourism development, capable of enhancing local territories without compromising their identity or sustainability.

Objectives

The general objective of the project is to contribute through continuing VET to the empowerment of entrepreneurs, local policymakers, community leaders and in micro-destinations by enhancing their governance capacities while fostering collaboration and enabling sustainable tourism development.

Activities

The project activities focus on empowering local policymakers and entrepreneurs in micro-destinations through Continuing Vocational Education and Training (C-VET).

  • A C-VET curriculum for governance training in micro-destinations
  • A network of policy makers, community leaders, public officials and entrepreneurs trained and equipped with governance skills
  • An Open Educational Resource (OER) toolkit for governance training in the tourism sector
  • A cross-sectoral C-VET approach for green and digital transitions in tourism
  • Continuing Education (VET) modules on strategies for extending the tourism season
