SERN Thematic wall

The SERN Thematic Wall (STW) are thematic information sessions aimed at giving shape and substance to the priorities and activities foreseen by the SERN strategy.

Through this flexible “wall,” we will put in focus a specific theme linked to our strategy for a set period (2/3 months).

During this period, the Secretariat will devise a series of targeted events and activities that are directly related to the chosen priority or theme.

Quality education in times of change

We live in a time marked by major transformations: global mobility, growing inequalities, digitalisation, and changes in interpersonal relationships. Schools and education systems are called upon not only to transmit knowledge, but also to shape conscious, empathetic individuals who are ready to become active citizens in a complex and ever-changing world.

This STW cycle aims to explore how quality education can become a tool for equity, inclusion, and resilience, responding to today’s challenges and helping to build a fairer, more sustainable society for current and future generations.

giving voice to children

23 – 26  SEPTEMBER| Parma |

The EU Council Recommendation on High-Quality Early Childhood Education and Care (2019) encourages the creation of curricula that respond to children’s interests, promote their well-being, and support their unique potential. This holistic approach values play, creativity, contact with nature, and autonomy, while fostering inclusive and participatory environments where families are actively involved.

This training builds on SERN’s long-standing experience in European projects in the 0–6 sector. Through active learning methodologies and hands-on workshops, it offers professionals cultural and practical tools to enhance their practices, strengthen inclusive approaches, and create educational settings that truly respond to the diverse needs of children and their communities.

Inclusive Learning through AI

6 OCTOBER | 14.30 | Online

As digital tools increasingly shape the future of education, artificial intelligence (AI) offers new possibilities for making learning more inclusive. Students with learning difficulties and those from migrant backgrounds often face challenges that can hinder their educational journey, from language acquisition to personalisation of learning. AI technologies can help overcome these barriers by adapting to individual needs and providing targeted support.

This webinar will explore how AI can be harnessed to foster inclusion and equity in the classroom. Experts and practitioners will share strategies and tools that enhance language learning, support differentiated instruction, and empower educators to respond to diverse learning needs.

Emotional literacy and relationships education

28 OCTOBER | 14.30 | Online

Emotional well-being and healthy relationships are essential foundations for learning, personal growth, and social cohesion. Yet, these areas are often under-addressed in traditional curricula. As today’s young people navigate complex emotional landscapes, both offline and online, schools have a crucial role to play in equipping them with the tools to understand themselves and relate to others in safe, respectful, and meaningful ways.

This webinar will explore how emotional literacy and relationship education can be integrated into school life, promoting empathy, self-awareness, gender equality, and respectful communication in the classroom and beyond.

Education in the age of misinformation

9 DECEMBER | 14.30 | Online

From viral conspiracy theories to AI-generated fake content, young people today are growing up in a world where information is more accessible, and more misleading, than ever. Media and digital literacy are no longer optional skills: they are essential for critical thinking, democratic engagement, and personal safety in the digital age.

This webinar will explore how schools and educators can empower students to navigate the digital world responsibly, spot misinformation, and become informed digital citizens.
