The “Azienda Servizi Sociali di Bolzano” (ASSB) is a public institution, which coordinates and manages the social services offered in Bolzano’s territory. The ASSB was instituted in 1998 by the executive committee of Bolzano’s municipality and started the activities in 1999. It was born from the old Social Services Office of Bolzano with the aim to extend and improve all social services in the territory, using programmed strategies and functioning like an exclusive center for the whole community. The ASSB’ services are addressed to youngsters, families, elderlies, disabled people, people with psychic problems and people in need. In order to guarantee the aims mentioned, ASSB is divided into 5 social-health districts in the whole territory. In ASSB, the are 4 nursing homes for elders in the city of Bolzano that all together hosts around 450 people: Villa Armonia, Villa Europa, “Casa di riposo Don Bosco”, Villa Serena and, in case of interest, in Clinica S. Maria, a daily centre for people in distress or disability. .
The services in the nursing homes and centers for elders are performed by the staff of ASSB as well as by external collaborators. The services offered are for example: hosting services (food, lodging, room cleaning and clothes washing); nursing services; care and hygiene; health assistance; speech pathology assistance; Physiotherapy, and entertaining activities.
