DANTE

Diversity, empAthy, awareNess, respecT, knowlEdge: inclusion tools for schools

About the project

The DANTE project aims to promote inclusion in lower secondary schools through innovative teaching practices based on music, theatre and dance. Artistic expression is used as a powerful tool to support inclusion, helping students build self-confidence and emotional awareness, strengthen social and communication skills, and develop a sense of belonging through shared creative experiences.

The project also focuses on improving the quality of teachers’ educational tools and methodologies when addressing key themes related to inclusion, such as diversity, empathy, self-awareness, respect and the value of knowledge. By integrating these principles into everyday teaching practice, DANTE contributes to creating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment, where all students feel recognised and valued, regardless of their cultural, social or personal background. At the same time, the project represents an important opportunity for professional development and international cooperation, strengthening a European perspective in education.

Objectives

This project aims to improve the quality of educational tools and teaching methodologies used by secondary school teachers on the topics of diversity, empathy, self-awareness, respect and the value of knowledge. It does so by developing innovative teaching practices that foster student inclusion through musical, theatrical and dance-based activities.

Activities

The project activities include:

  • A kick-off meeting to present the project, partners and planned activities.

  • Joint analysis and development of an inclusive teaching methodology based on music, theatre and dance.

  • Testing of the developed methodology with students in secondary schools.

  • Study visits and mobility activities in Italy and Sweden to exchange practices and observe different educational contexts.

  • A final performance involving students, using music, theatre and dance as tools for inclusion.

Results

The project results include a shared and clearly defined methodology, a final drama and music performance involving students, and a concluding event or conference where participating teachers share their professional experiences with colleagues from the region or municipality of the partner schools.

The final activities will:

  1. Capitalise on the results of the previous work through a final student performance integrating music, dance and theatre.

  2. Provide a space for teachers to share their experiences and professional learning with other colleagues.
